Oribe is a luxury haircare brand that is 100% cruelty free. Almost all Oribe products are vegan, but not all of them are. Therefore, Oribe is not a 100% vegan brand.

Is Oribe cruelty free? Are Oribe products tested on animals?
Oribe doesn’t test on animals and is 100% cruelty free.
- Oribe’s finished products aren’t tested on animals by anyone, anywhere in the world
- The ingredients used in their products are never tested on animals by anyone, anywhere in the world
- Third parties never test Oribe products on animals
- Oribe is not sold in mainland China, or in any country where animal testing is still required by law
Oribe is certified 100% cruelty free by PETA.

Is Oribe sold in China?
No, Oribe products are NOT sold in physical stores in mainland China.
Why can’t cruelty free brands sell in mainland China?
Animal testing is still mandatory for all imported products sold in physical stores in mainland China.
Pre-market animal testing is required for all imported products, and non-routine post-market testing on animals may also be done in cases of customer complaints.
However, please keep in mind that this doesn’t apply to products sold in stores at the airports, or in Hong Kong.
Also, products can be sold online and shipped to mainland China without being tested on animals.
Is Oribe owned by a parent brand? If yes, is it cruelty free?
Oribe is owned by Kao USA Inc.
Kao USA acquired Oribe back in 2017.
Kao USA is not a cruelty free company.
In our development of cosmetics, we do not and will not conduct animal testing nor do we outsource this task to anyone.*1
*1 This excludes instances where we need to respond to societal expectations to evidence the safety of a product or when required to do so by government agencies in particular countries.

Basically, they test on animals when required by law (e.g. in mainland China).
However, I’m glad that Oribe doesn’t follow the animal testing policy of their parent company, so they remain cruelty free.
Is Oribe vegan?
Oribe is not 100% vegan. Most of their products are vegan, but Oribe is not a vegan brand.

The rest of their products don’t contain animal derived ingredients and are therefore 100% vegan.
