- Third parties never test Rodan and Fields products on animals
- Rodan and Fields is not sold in mainland China, or in any country where animal testing is still required by law

Rodan + Fields does not test its formulas on animals. We use alternate in-lab test methods, voluntary paid participants and often, home office staff volunteers to verify the safety and efficacy of our formulations.

However, that still wasn’t enough information for me, so I decided to reach out to them to make sure they’re truly cruelty free.

Is Rodan and Fields sold in China?
No, Rodan and Fields products are NOT sold in physical stores in mainland China.
Why can’t cruelty free brands sell in mainland China?
Animal testing is still happening for products sold in physical stores in mainland China.
Pre-market animal testing is required for all special-use imported products, and non-routine post-market testing on animals may also be done in cases of customer complaints.
However, please keep in mind that this doesn’t apply to products sold in stores at the airports, or in Hong Kong.
Also, products can be sold online and shipped to mainland China without being tested on animals.
Is Rodan and Fields owned by a parent brand? If yes, is it cruelty free?
Rodan and Fields is not owned by a parent company.
During 2003 – 2007, Rodan and Fields was owned by Estée Lauder, but the original founders reacquired the brand.
Is Rodan and Fields vegan?
Rodan and Fields is not 100% vegan.
Our products cannot be certified as vegan because some products contain natural or animal-derived ingredients, like milk or honey, in order to deliver our clinical results.
