I reached out to this brand with my questionnaire and confirmed that they’re truly cruelty free. This is their response:

Since the 1st of July 2014 China Food & Drug Administration (CFDA) stopped requiring tests for ordinary cosmetics including makeup, skin & hair care products that are produced in the country so testing on animals in china is not longer the law.

Testing of finished cosmetic products and their ingredients in animals, where conducted for the purposes of the Directive – no longer allowed in the EU.

Marketing in the EU of finished cosmetic products tested in animals was banned on 11th March 2009. It is also illegal to market a finished cosmetic product if it contains ingredients tested in some animal tests. These tests include irritation and acute toxicity for which validated non-animal alternatives are available.

From 11 March 2013, any cosmetic product that contains an ingredient tested in animals for the purposes of the Directive will not be allowed for sale in the EU, irrespective of whether or not an alternative test is available.

Please be assured that all of our products and materials used are not tested on animals (alive or dead) or any animal tissues.

However, in the follow-up communication they confirmed that they don’t sell in mainland China.

So, in conclusion, Revolution Beauty (also known as Makeup Revolution) is cruelty free.
