Pixi doesn’t test on animals and is 100% cruelty free.
I have confirmed that:
- Pixi’s finished products aren’t tested on animals by anyone, anywhere in the world
- The ingredients used in their products are never tested on animals by anyone, anywhere in the world
- Third parties never test Pixi products on animals
- Pixi is not sold in mainland China, or in any country where animal testing is still required by law
Let’s look at their official animal testing policy:
Does Pixi test on animals?
source: Pixi
Pixi does not test on animals, nor do we have any other parties, such as suppliers, conduct any animal testing on our behalf. Pixi uses only the highest quality ingredients which have a proven safety record and are widely used in the cosmetics industry.
That answers almost all of our questions except for the last one regarding selling in China. So, I reached out to Pixi and confirmed that they don’t sell in mainland China.
Q: I would like to ask whether Pixi products are available for sale in physical stores in mainland China?
A: Customers in China are available to purchase Pixi through cross-border e-commerce, which allows us to remain cruelty-free by avoiding the need to undergo animal testing.

So, in mainland China, Pixi is only available online. That means that they don’t sell in physical stores, and therefore their products can’t be subjected to post-market animal testing in China.
Therefore, Pixi is 100% cruelty free.

Is Pixi sold in China?
No, Pixi products are NOT sold in physical stores in mainland China.
Keep in mind that although their products are sold in China online, they still remain cruelty free because animal testing requirements only apply to products sold in physical stores.
Why can’t cruelty free brands sell in mainland China?
Animal testing is still happening for products sold in physical stores in mainland China.
Pre-market animal testing is required for all special-use imported products, and non-routine post-market testing on animals may also be done in cases of customer complaints.
However, please keep in mind that this doesn’t apply to products sold in stores at the airports, or in Hong Kong.
Also, products can be sold online and shipped to mainland China without being tested on animals.
