Continue reading and learn more about this awesome K-Beauty brand.
By the way, I’ve listed my favorite Klairs products at the end of this post.
Let’s dive right in!
Is Klairs cruelty free? Are Klairs products tested on animals?
Klairs doesn’t test on animals and is 100% cruelty free.
- Klairs’s finished products aren’t tested on animals by anyone, anywhere in the world
- The ingredients used in their products are never tested on animals by anyone, anywhere in the world
- Third parties never test Klairs products on animals
- Klairs is not sold in mainland China, or in any country where animal testing is still required by law
Klairs is approved by the Korea Animal Rights Advocates – KARA (which is basically the Korean version of PETA) as a cruelty free skincare brand.
Klairs is also on Norway’s Animal Cruelty Free Brand List.
Let’s take a look at the details.
Is Klairs sold in China?
No, Klairs products are NOT sold in physical stores in mainland China.
Why can’t cruelty free brands sell in mainland China?
Animal testing is still mandatory for all imported products sold in physical stores in mainland China.
Pre-market animal testing is required for all imported products, and non-routine post-market testing on animals may also be done in cases of customer complaints.
However, please keep in mind that this doesn’t apply to products sold in stores at the airports, or in Hong Kong.
Also, products can be sold online and shipped to mainland China without being tested on animals.
Is Klairs owned by a parent brand? If yes, is it cruelty free?
Klairs is owned by their parent company Wish Company Inc.
Wish Company is cruelty free, and is certified by PETA.
Is Klairs vegan?
Klairs is not 100% vegan. Almost all of their products are vegan, but Klairs is not a vegan brand.
That being said, Klairs has said that they aim to go 100% vegan in the near future.
Klairs is well on their way to becoming fully vegan in every aspect of their production.
While in the past, Klairs products contained components like snail mucin and beeswax, the only animal-derived ingredient used in their products currently is honey due to its beneficial properties for the skin.
Klairs is always researching ways to reformulate or replace this ingredient with one that is vegan.
