Is IT Cosmetics sold in China?
No, IT Cosmetics products are NOT sold in physical stores in mainland China.
Why can’t cruelty free brands sell in mainland China?
Animal testing is still happening for products sold in physical stores in mainland China.
Pre-market animal testing is required for all special-use imported products, and non-routine post-market testing on animals may also be done in cases of customer complaints.
However, please keep in mind that this doesn’t apply to products sold in stores at the airports, or in Hong Kong.
Also, products can be sold online and shipped to mainland China without being tested on animals.
Is IT Cosmetics owned by a parent brand? If yes, is it cruelty free?
IT Cosmetics is owned by L’Oréal, which is a company that tests on animals.
I have an entire dedicated post about L’Oréal’s cruelty free status and animal testing policy, so if you want to learn more, check it out.
IT Cosmetics was acquired by L’Oréal in 2016.
In 2019, the founders and CEOs of IT Cosmetics – Jamie Kern Lima and Paulo Lima left the company.
Jamie Kern Lima and Paulo Lima, both CEOs of the make-up brand, will cut ties with their brand at the end of their contract and hand over full control to parent company L’Oréal.

You can read more about the acquisition in this Forbes article.
IT Cosmetics remains 100% cruelty free – they don’t test on animals and their products are not sold in mainland China.
Even though when it comes to animal testing L’Oréal can’t be trusted, they do own other brands which have remained cruelty free, such as NYX and Urban Decay.
In conclusion: IT Cosmetics is owned by a parent company that isn’t cruelty free. However, IT Cosmetics has their own animal testing policy independent of their parent company, and has remained 100% cruelty free.
Is IT Cosmetics vegan?
IT Cosmetics is not a vegan brand.
In fact, I couldn’t seem to find any vegan IT Cosmetics products during my research, except for their makeup brushes which don’t use animal hair, so they could be considered vegan.
We apologize for any confusion, while our products are cruelty-free they are not vegan.

In conclusion, IT Cosmetics is not a vegan-friendly brand.
