  • Pureology’s finished products aren’t tested on animals by anyone, anywhere in the world
  • The ingredients used in their products are never tested on animals by anyone, anywhere in the world

Is Pureology sold in China?

No, Pureology products are NOT sold in physical stores in mainland China.

Why can’t cruelty free brands sell in mainland China?

Animal testing is still happening for products sold in physical stores in mainland China.

Pre-market animal testing is required for all special-use imported products, and non-routine post-market testing on animals may also be done in cases of customer complaints.

However, please keep in mind that this doesn’t apply to products sold in stores at the airports, or in Hong Kong.

Also, products can be sold online and shipped to mainland China without being tested on animals.

Is Pureology owned by a parent brand? If yes, is it cruelty free?

Pureology is owned by L’Oréal, which is a company that tests on animals.

I have an entire dedicated post about L’Oréal’s cruelty free status and animal testing policy, so if you want to learn more, check it out.

Pureology was acquired by L’Oréal back in 2007.

Even though when it comes to animal testing L’Oréal can’t be trusted, they do own other brands which have remained cruelty free, such as NYX, IT Cosmetics and Urban Decay.

Bottom line: although Pureology is owned by a company that tests on animals, Pureology itself is 100% cruelty free as a brand.

Is Pureology vegan?

Pureology is 100% vegan.

None of Pureology’s products and formulas contain any animal-derived ingredients or by-products.
